​The Story​

 

This was Capture And Motion's first project with The Clarks Hotels & Resorts, a resort property in Dechu, Rajasthan, deep enough in the desert that the shoot began with a 12-13 hour drive from Gurugram. A 3-person crew made the journey by road, with the shoot itself planned around 2 days on location and 1 day of travel on either side.

The brief went beyond documenting the resort itself; the plan was to capture the full experience a guest would have: the desert safari, camel rides, the region's flora and fauna, and local cultural activities wherever possible. But the ground reality didn't match what the head office had described, the property wasn't fully shoot-ready, starting with a pool that needed more cleaning time than the schedule allowed.

Rather than let that stall the shoot, the team worked around it, capturing the resort inside and out across photography, video, drone, and FPV: every room category, the restaurant, spa, conference hall, and guest add-on experiences, alongside the desert safari, camel rides, and the surrounding landscape. Only the pool and the regional cultural activities were left uncaptured by the time the crew headed home.

Midway through, the client revealed a second, larger piece of the property, a full camp site setup that also needed documenting, but wasn't ready at the time. The team returned to Dechu 1-2 months later to shoot it.

The second visit closed every gap from the first. The pool was ready. A group of international guests staying at the property happened to coincide with the shoot, and the resort had arranged a cultural dance and music performance for them that evening, the team was invited to shoot it, and came away with strong footage they hadn't originally planned for.

At the camp site, the same full range of coverage applied; stills, video, drone, and FPV. With no actual guests present for the welcome ceremony, two of the three crew members stepped in front of the camera themselves so the sequence could be shot properly. The team also covered the camp's bonfire setup and a traditional dance and music performance staged at the site's central stage.

The project delivered three videos in total: one for the resort, one for the camp, and once the client realized both were really two halves of one property story, a combined video bringing the two together, with shared elements like the desert safari and camel ride appearing across all three. It was a long project that tested the team's patience at points, but one everyone came away having genuinely enjoyed.

Adapted On the Ground, Not Just On Paper - When the property wasn't shoot-ready as promised, the team restructured coverage on the spot rather than compromising the brief.
Three Deliverables From One Relationship - A resort film, a camp film, and a combined piece; built as the scope of the property (and the project) grew.
The Team Became the Story When Needed - With no guests on hand for the camp's welcome ceremony, the crew stepped in themselves to get the shot.
