HMD

Corporate Induction Video

Gurgaon, Haryana, 2022

HMD

The Story

HMD needed a new induction video for incoming employees, a referral project, built to a tight 2-day shoot timeline. The brief covered interviews with the heads of every major department, paired with the texture of the office itself: employees at work, interacting, in the cafeteria, using informal spaces to collaborate, the actual culture of the place, not a staged version of it. To close the video, HMD shared photographs from a run of company occasions, festival celebrations, the HMD Premiere League, Women's Day, Pot Luck, and Sunshine Day, folding real company moments into the final cut.

One interview couldn't happen in person: Florian Seiche, CEO of HMD Global, was out of the country during the shoot window. Rather than skip his voice from the video entirely, he sent through a phone-recorded message of his own, and that became the opening of the film. The video quality of a phone recording next to the rest of the production is a noticeable trade-off, but the video's job was never to be a technical showcase, it was to properly welcome new employees, and a message from the global CEO, however it was captured, did exactly that.

The full induction film ran 19-20 minutes. Like several other Capture And Motion projects, this was a solo shoot, budget on a referral project was tight, so Bhavesh ran it alone. HMD had already assigned someone internally to coordinate department heads' time slots, which kept the leadership interviews running smoothly; everything else, the ambience, the culture shots, the day-to-day of the office, was captured in the gaps between those scheduled slots.

Impact

Purpose Over Polish - A phone recorded CEO message opened the film, the right call, since the video's job was to welcome new hires, not win a cinematography award.

A Real Office, Not a Staged One - Culture captured through actual work, actual cafeteria conversations, and actual informal moments, not posed reenactments.

A Full Induction, In Two Days - Leadership interviews, office life, and company history, all delivered inside a tight shoot window.

Solo Execution, Scheduled Around Leadership - One person managing the entire shoot, working around a pre-arranged interview schedule to capture everything else in between.
